Thank you to those in attendance! I am including the slides from the presentation which include important HR updates from our partners at Insperity and other important information that may apply to your patients.

Meeting Recap

The quarterly meeting for nurses discussed the services offered by the League, including HR, IT, legal referrals, insurance, and legislative advocacy. The team also discussed the progress of various pregnancy clinics, including the licensing process, staffing needs, and training for new nurses and/or new ultrasound machines. Lastly, they discussed the new platform, Voter Voice, as well as plans for future meetings (still TBD).



Meeting Summary

Nurses Discuss IT Services Offered


The League offers their IT services, including a custom solution for administrative IT needs. The League's "IT in a Box" is tailored to individual clinic needs and can include Internet, phone services, phone routing, messaging system, digital communications, digital file management, secuirty cameras, firewalls and more.



League Supports Pregnancy Clinics and Centers


We discussed the purpose of the League, which is to support its 80 member pregnancy clinics, centers, and maternity homes. The League's director, Jennifer Nolan. emphasized the League's role in providing various services, including HR, IT, legal referrals, insurance, and legislative advocacy. Juli introduced the League's nurses and encouraged attendees to refer other clinics to the League. Katherine, the nurse manager for the Napa Women's Center, shared her clinic's progress in the licensing process and expressed her need for support. We discussed one of our partners, Life Legal, who can resource and cover the cost of legal services, which includes assistance with California Department of Public Health forms and the licensing issues.



Ultrasound Training for Pregnancy Resource Center


Cecilia Borgia, who joined Foothills Pregnancy Resource Center in January, is set to undergo ultrasound training in April. The training will be conducted at her clinic using a new ultrasound machine donated by the Knights of Columbus. Cecilia, who has a background in labor and delivery, expressed excitement about the new skill. The training will be provided by Roxy and Cindy from Forget Me Not Ultrasound, a Christian-based company. The Pregnancy Resource Center, which has been associated with the Right to Life League for many years, offers various services including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and parenting classes.



Pregnancy Clinic Licensing and Ultrasound Proficiency


Leslie shared that her pregnancy clinic in Northridge has submitted all necessary paperwork to become a medical clinic and is awaiting inspection. She expressed hope for a quicker process than the usual 4 to 5 months. Meanwhile, Katherine, whose clinic is also in the process of obtaining a license, sought clarification on the timeline. Front Desk, representing Kelly Choice in Paramount, California, expressed a desire to improve proficiency in ultrasounds.



Voter Voice Platform Overview


Juli presented an overview of the League's new platform, Voter Voice, which simplifies contacting representatives of Congress. She also discussed the bill tracker on the advocacy website and encouraged participation. Anyone can sign up for voter voice and you can use any email and the information provided is secure and confidential. They only use the address to direct it to your local representative.



HR Lunch and Learn Event


Juli shared updates from an HR lunch and learn event, including changes in minimum wage, paid sick leave, and paid family leave. She clarified that employers cannot require a driver's license for job applications and that vacation time is separate from family leave time. Katherine asked about the harassment training requirement for their office, and Juli clarified that it does not apply to their small team.



Alpha Pregnancy Help Center Staffing Needs


In the meeting, Monica from Alpha Pregnancy Help Center in Merced, California, expressed the need for more nurses at her facility. She mentioned that they have been interviewing and there are some possibilities, but they continue to seek qualified candidates. The team discussed the possibility of using a staffing agency, Express Pros, to find medical staff, including pro-life nurses. They also discussed advertising in church bulletins as a potential method to attract faith-based staff. Monica mentioned that their fundraising gala had brought in one nurse, who is currently undergoing ultrasound training. The team agreed to continue exploring options to meet their staffing needs.
